In December 2020, we launched the Sanctuary Students Big Night In, with monthly challenges that you and your flatmates can take part in from the comfort of your student digs.

For the first round, we challenged you to get into the festive spirit with our Gingerbread House Challenge. And in January, following the lockdown 3.0 announcement, we took our inspiration from the ultimate comfort food – pizza!

For our Pizza-making Challenge, we sent out everything you needed to master that next-level Margherita , and you didn’t hold back in channelling your Italiano spirit. We were thrilled to see over 250 of you get involved, and loved seeing your creations (even if they made us very hungry!).

Above are a few of our favourites, including our winners, Rebecca, Fabian and Lewis from Tramways in Salford, who created this tasty trio, featuring the Sanctuary Students and University of Salford logos. Enjoy your prize!

We also loved this ‘Angry Bird’ design by @gavin_gu on Instagram, and these ‘timely’ creations from students at Grenville Street. And what about this pepperoni party from @aliceprivadventures? Mamma mia!

And since you’ve mastered these savoury delights, it’s time you got your ‘just desserts’ – our February challenge is therefore to create some delicious brownies. These kits include some icing – plus, we’re also throwing in a funky face-painting kit to add some extra fun to the activity.

For those of you who signed up, your kits are on their way. Remember to tag us on Facebook and Instagram with videos and pictures of your brownies and face paint, using the hashtag #sancstudentsbignightin for your chance to get your hands on a £100 Amazon voucher!

We know that the ongoing lockdown will cause some uncertainty, and we want you to know we’re here for you. We’re doing everything we can to support our student community, from offering mental health support to bringing flatmates together with events like the Big Night In.
