Simple ways that Sanctuary Students can become more eco-friendly

Global warming, the increase in temperatures around the world, is leading to extreme weather conditions, but what can we do to try and tackle this problem?

We are committed to making changes where possible to help our business become greener.

Here are five simple things we can all do to try and be a little bit more environmentally friendly:

1. Use less paper and recycle more

We are much more reliant on the use of technology. It is easy to go a day or even days without putting pen to paper. The less paper we use and waste, the less paper needs to be produced meaning more trees are left to fill the rain forests. Recycle paper cups, newspapers and even food packaging.

2. Eat less meat

It might be hard to believes, but by cutting back on our consumption of meat we can make a huge difference to the environment. According to United Nations studies, more than 30 per cent of the earth’s surface is being used to raise and support livestock, accounting for 9 percent of CO2 and harmful greenhouse gases.

3. Reuse plastic bags

There are loads of creative ways you can reuse your plastic bags, from using them time and time again when you pop to the shops, to making gloves out of them when you handle messy food. You can also store your freezer food in them or wrap meat or others food that needs to be defrosted in the fridge.

4. Reduce water waste

Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth and take shorter showers.

We’ve launched a brand-new survey, and we’d really value your feedback in pointing out some key areas where we can improve. Send in your suggestions on how we can take action to be eco-friendlier by completing this online survey: Please note this survey is now closed.
