7 (more) of the best drink-free nights out in your city

Despite the rumours, uni isn’t all about drinking and nights out. Sure, it can be a huge part – especially during Freshers’ Week – but there’s so much more to it! Did someone say actually getting a degree...?

Karaoke
room

Often find yourself having a sing-song while in the shower or cooking dinner? Whether you fancy yourself as the next Ariana Grande, or just like to relish making those around you cringe at the sound of your stunning singing voice, a karaoke room could be a perfect night out for you! It’s great for groups, too.

This one might be a more expensive option, but you’re pretty much guaranteed to have a great time! Perfect for a special occasion, grab your closest pals and plan a trip for a birthday, ‘exams are over’ celebration or end-of-year shebang. Make sure to look out for annual passes that might shave off some pennies too, and always keep an eye out for student tickets.

Inflatable
park

Who wasn’t a fan of a good-old bouncy castle birthday party back in the day? If you want to recreate some of that childhood joy, take yourself and a group of friends to a local inflatable park! From inflatable obstacle courses to huge slides and soft sponge pits, there’s a range of activities that’ll get you moving and remind you of the good old days.

Arcade

Particularly for those staying near the coast, why not head to the seaside and visit an arcade? Again, this is another drink-free night out that has massive nostalgia vibes – and can be fairly cheap too! You can spend hours at the 2p machines, or splash a little more cash and try the rollercoaster simulator, whack-a-mole or the ‘Dance Dance Revolution’-inspired dance machine.

Trampoline
park

Similar to the inflatable park, a trampoline park is sure to get your body moving. It’s a great option if you need a break from revision or assignment writing and want to get active in a new, different and – most importantly – fun way. Look out for special offers for evening or weekday sessions that might knock a few pounds off the booking price too.

Fruit
picking

Depending on the season, heading to a local fruit-picking farm or field can be a very wholesome activity. You might have to head a little further out of the city for this one, so it’s worth having a look at local public transport to see where you can get to. Visit a fruit-picking patch to stock up on berries – and take some great Instagram pics too!

Escape
room

A classic bonding exercise for friendship groups, workplaces, birthday parties, hen dos, stag dos – and everything in between. If you fancy yourself as a detective-type with excellent problem-solving skills, book you and your friends in for an escape-room adventure. Race against the clock to solve a mystery and get those brains whirring outside of lectures. And don’t forget to check for discounted student tickets!
