Q1 Heroes – Lynne Purvis and Angela Earl, Assistant Accommodation Managers in Dundee. Lynne and Angela both received three nominations each, thanks to their amazing response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Both stepped up and said that they were willing to do whatever was needed to allow those with underlying health conditions to work from home. They worked longer shifts to ensure the students who were still on-site had cover. They even got stuck in with helping the cleaners and caretakers, and raised the spirits of their colleagues with their great sense of humour.
Q2 Hero – Gill Thompson, Receptionist, Marybone Student Village. Since Gill started in her role, she has built great relationships with students and their families. This was shown when she remained calm and comforting to colleagues and residents during a particularly difficult time.
Q4 Hero – Anne-Marie Duffy, Deputy Accommodation Manager in Dundee – Anne-Marie did a phenomenal job working through the first Covid-19 lockdown. She then discovered she had her own mountain to climb: receiving a diagnosis for a life-threating condition. She received weekly treatment for many months without complaint – which showcases her amazing outlook and positive approach to the situation. We really do admire her for her braveness and keeping her sense of humour throughout the situation. Her leadership never dwindled, and she very much carried on with a ‘business as usual’ approach. Anne-Marie is a true hero and a shining beacon of hope and courage for us all to reflect on.
Congratulations to all of our 2019 and 2020 Heroes! Stay tuned for our 2021 Heroes – and, in the meantime, if you want to shout about an amazing Sanctuary Students team member, please email: HERO@sanctuary-students.com.
