About Mile End
Mile End is an East End area of London. It’s a great place to spend your student years and offers a huge range of influences, cultures, languages and outlooks. It’s a very diverse area and is all the better for it.
Mile End is along the A11 east of the City. It’s a mainly residential area that features Queen Mary University of London, Stepney Green Maths, Computing & Science College, New City College, Attlee A Level Academy, Global Banking School London Campus Olympic Park, Mile End Hospital and BMI The London Independent Hospital.
There are also wide areas of green spaces that make Mile End a nice place to live in. There are more parks and open areas here than most other areas of the capital.
There are also hundreds of shops, bars, restaurants, pubs, cafés and lots to see and do.
Our accommodation in Mile End for students is in the heart of it all!
Transport in Mile End
Mile End is a largely residential area that has plenty of buses and tube stations. It’s well connected by road too and as it’s on the outskirts of the city, getting around by car isn’t too bad.
Mile End is just a 15-minute tube ride from Oxford Street and city highlights. Local stations include Mile End Station, Bow Road, Stepney Green and Bethnal Green.
Stratford Rail station is a short tube or bus ride east while Liverpool Street Station is a short ride west.
Buses are everywhere, with some services running 24 hours a day while others run at peak times.
Our student housing in Mile End is less than a minute’s walk from Mile End tube station.
Student life in Mile End
Mile End is an affordable part of London to live in but doesn’t require compromise to stay here. It’s a largely working area with lots of small industries and a variety of businesses providing a genuine glimpse of the East End.
There are lots of independent shops, chain stores, pubs, bars, restaurants, cafés and places to spend time in and socialise.
There’s also the Mile End Floating Market, which is a big draw as well as a great place to spend some money.
While Queen Mary University of London is the closest university to Mile End, you’ll meet students from all over, thanks to great tube and bus links.
Mile End attractions
Mile End has a lot going on and has great transport links to the rest of the city. While there are definite local amenities, many more are available within London.
