About Islington

Islington is a predominantly residential area in Greater London. It’s north of Angel along the A1. It’s a nice place to stay with green spaces, friendly locals and plenty to see and do.

Islington boasts Highbury & Islington Station, Canonbury Tube, Caledonian Road & Barnsbury Tube and dozens of bus routes, ensuring getting around is a breeze.

It is also home to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, London Metropolitan University, Holloway Road and a whole lot more.

As it’s a residential area, you’ll need to take a bus or Tube to some major London universities but they are cheap and plentiful so you’re never far from class or from where you need to be.

Our accommodation in Islington is all close to both Tube and bus stops.

Transport in Islington

Islington is well connected as far as public transport goes. It is also relatively easy to drive around although parking permits are required for most residential streets.

Islington has rail and Tube links, including Holloway Road, Canonbury Tube, Caledonian Road & Barnsbury Tube, Highbury & Islington Station, Arsenal Tube, Drayton Park Rail and others.

London King’s Cross Station is a short ride south, linking you to major rail links and other London Underground lines.

The A1 runs through the centre of Islington and is the main driving route in the area. It gets busy but it’s easier to drive around here than many places close to the centre of London.

Student life in Islington

Islington is a great place to be a student. It’s fairly relaxed, has plenty of green spaces, good transport links and welcomes students.

The area also has lots of pubs, bars, bistros, restaurants, cafés, clubs, museums, galleries, parks and lots of places to hang out, explore or spend time in.

Islington is home to London Metropolitan University but is also close to University College London (UCL), King's College London, City, University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and the University of Westminster.

Rents are reasonable, transport links are plentiful, plus there are lots of amenities and lots of other students to make friends with and hang out.

Our accommodation in Islington for students is in the heart of all this, so it’s the perfect place to stay!
