Liverpool is a fun and exciting city to enjoy student life. With so much to do, here are a few tips and FAQs to help you.

Our centrally located properties mean you’ll find everything you need close by but if you fancy exploring the North West of England or want to travel home to see family and friends, this is easily done with Liverpool Lime Street station just a short walk away.

From bistro and gourmet to oriental and quick bites, Liverpool has something for everyone.

Liverpool’s Hope Street Quarter is the perfect place to enjoy bistro and gourmet dishes. We recommend The Side Door or 60 Hope Street for a perfect setting to enjoy a meal out with family or friends.

Liverpool’s famous Chinatown – the oldest Chinese community in Europe - offers an oriental feel, including the multi-award winning, authentic Japanese restaurant, Etsu which is a particular favourite for locals.

Sometimes you just want to grab a quick bite to eat and Liverpool One offers just that with great cafes and tapas bars available.

Liverpool One Shopping Centre sits by the iconic waterfront and is home to over 170 shops, bars and restaurants, with both high street and designer favourites. Our accommodation is just a 10 minute walk away, so you can easily pop in anytime.

You’ll never be stuck for something to do in Liverpool. We have some top attractions nearby that are worth a visit, such as the Royal Albert Dock, the Cavern Club and Liverpool One shopping centre, as well as restaurants, bars and clubs.

Student life in Liverpool is vibrant which shows in the varied cultural places and exciting nightlife on offer. It’s the perfect place to enjoy all that student life has to offer.

We recommend looking for Liverpool student accommodation as soon as your place is confirmed. The typical time of September or October would still work, but our accommodation is exceptionally popular, so we would recommend visiting and booking as soon as you possibly can.

The best areas for student accommodation in Liverpool depend on what you’re looking for. We recommend areas like Liverpool City Centre, Mount Pleasant, Baltic Triangle, Paddington, Wavertree, Ropewalks, Knowledge Quarter and other areas like that.

Everything is included in the rent with Sanctuary Students. All our Liverpool student accommodation is fully inclusive. That means the rent you see is the rent you pay. No bills, no fees, no hidden extras.

Some key neighbourhoods in Liverpool include:

Baltic Triangle is known for being home to creatives, musicians and artists. It’s a relaxed part of town close to Chinatown and a short walk from the city centre. There’s a lot of individual shops, cafés and bistros here, as well as galleries and places to chill or explore, depending on your mood.

Liverpool city centre is where the action is at. It’s a convenient place to live but might be noisy and a little too lively at times. It’s busy, energetic, friendly and interesting with plenty of shopping, dining, takeaways, pubs, bars, clubs and things to see and do.

The Knowledge Quarter of Liverpool is another predominantly student area sandwiched between Islington and the Georgian Quarter. It’s full of shops, cafés, an e-sports club, music, pubs, bars and John Lennon’s old haunt, Ye Cracke. It’s a relaxed area with a cool vibe, so it's a nice place to spend time in.

Ropewalks was voted one of the UK’s ‘hippest’ areas, but don’t hold that against it. The area is an eclectic mix of independent stores, bohemian businesses, bakeries, cafés, bistros, the Michael Jackson Moonwalker mural and St Luke’s the bombed-out church.

Wavertree is a very popular student area with lots going on. It’s geared up for students, so has plenty of shops, pubs, bars, cafés, takeaways and supermarkets. It’s a short walk or bus ride to the University of Liverpool and is a nice place to spend time in.

The Liverpool University area, as the name suggests, is ideal for University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University. It’s a city centre location, close to shopping, eating, buses, Central Library, World Museum and the Walker Art Gallery.
