Remember, the email address you give us is the easiest way for us to contact you. We’ll be sending you an e-contract as well as updates and arrival information during term time and holiday periods. We wouldn’t want you to miss out on anything!

Guarantor

You’ll need to provide us with your guarantor's personal details - someone who is legally obliged to pay the rent if you can’t. This person must be over 18, a UK resident, and have a regular income, assets or savings, which are sufficient to meet your potential liabilities. Remember, you’ll need to get their consent before providing us with their details.

If you do not have a suitable guarantor, payment will need to be made in full. Please contact the office staff to arrange this.

Credit/Debit Card

When you accept your offer of accommodation you’ll need to pay a £1 contract fee and set up a recurring card payment relating to your chosen rent instalments.

Internet is not included in your rent. However studios are connected to a BT line and you will be able to select a broadband package and obtain a router from a range of providers.

There’s a lot to remember to do before you move in. Use our list below to make sure you don’t miss anything.

  • Have you returned your Guarantor Deed and proof of address?

When you arrive at North Western Hall to collect your keys, please head straight to reception where we’ll ask you for photographic ID before handing your keys over.

It’s not a problem if you’re running late. Just let us know if you won’t arrive between our opening hours so we can leave your keys with our security guard.

And remember, unless you notify us that someone else will be collecting them for you, only you will be able to pick up the keys to your room.

TV licence

If you are bringing a TV to watch live TV, or if you receive or record live TV programmes on any other device, such as a laptop, you will need a TV Licence. You won’t be covered by your parents’ licence. Our TV licences only cover the TVs that we provide, for example in common rooms and lounge areas.

From September 2016, you’ll need a TV license to watch the BBC iPlayer.

For more information and to buy your licence, visit the TV Licensing website. There are a variety of payment plans available.

The TV licensing authorities recognise that most students do not need the final three months of a TV licence as you leave the accommodation during the summer. You may be able to receive a refund for this period, provided that you don’t need your licence again before it expires.

If you do not have a TV Licence but you receive or record live TV you could face prosecution from the TV Licensing Authority.
